It’s our fifth birthday and we are celebrating this Saturday! We would love for you to join us.

Poster announcing the 5 year anniversary of Midtown Radio, outlining the volunteer workshop (3pm), pre-show live broadcast (4pm), and the 5pm anniversary party social.

If you’re interested in learning more about how a show goes live to air, attend our pre-show live broadcast at 4pm. Join the Midtown crew, including local artists and musicians for a social at 5pm. And, of course, there will be live music! Starting at 7pm we will host an outdoor concert featuring the MacQueens. Message us at midtownradiokw@gmail.com for more details.

What we’re playing on Midtown Radio

Leading with Love is a new podcast collaboration by community activist and Kitchener Centre MPP Laura Mae Lindo and Midtown Radio. Join Laura Mae each week as she discusses relevant local topics with leaders in the Waterloo Region community. You can listen to past episodes on Transistor.

Hot New June Releases!

  • I, the Mountain’s newest single, Jillian

  • Eric Jackson & The Willow River Band single, Only a Livin'

  • Matthew Ryan Jacobs single, Street Lights

  • Danny Michel has a brand new album being released on June 30th!

Recently, Sam Nabi shared this Spotify list on Twitter which is a great introduction to the many local musicians we have in Waterloo Region. Many of those same artists are featured regularly on Midtown Radio too!

June is National Indigenous History Month and today is National Indigenous Peoples Day. “For generations, many Indigenous groups and communities have celebrated their culture and heritage on June 21 or around that time of year because of the significance of the summer solstice as the longest day of the year.” Catch Stories from Land Back Camp on Midtown Radio. Also, Land Back Camp recently announced a new garden project beside the Schneider Haus Museum. It’s called Tionnhéhkwen which means sustenance.

This weekend is the 56th annual Multicultural Festival! Festival attendees can take in a wide range of musical performances, fun activities, community booths, and of course, delicious food. Perhaps, you’ll even participate in the Slow Bike Race where the winner is the last person riding a bike on the finish line without putting a foot down!

We hope to see you at many of the great events happening this month!
