This Must Be The Place: How Music Can Make Your City Better
Midtown Radio proudly presents: This Must Be The Place book launch and panel discussion at 4:00pm on Friday, October 6th, 2023 at the SDG Idea Factory (2 King St W, Kitchener).
Grab your (free!) tickets for the launch of Shain Shapiro’s book where he will discuss how music can improve the city's economic and social development. “Arguing for the transformative role of artists and musicians in a post-pandemic world, This Must Be The Place not only examines the powerful impact music can have on our cities, but also serves as a how-to guide and toolkit for music-lovers, artists and activists everywhere to begin the process of reinventing the communities they live in.”
In addition to Shain Shapiro, our panel, moderated by Danielle Deveau, includes Betty Anne Keller (Executive Producer, Rock This Town), Paul Kalbfleisch (co-author of The Joy Experiments: Starting a New Conversation on City Building), and Amit Mehta (Founder, Good Company Productions)
Live at The Apollo!
Join us on October 8th and 22nd for a live recording session of our radio dramas.
Earlier this year, we had a call out for radio drama scripts. We are now ready to record those dramas and would love for you to join us on October 8th and 22nd as we record them live at the Apollo!
Midtown Radio loves community…and The Community Edition!
If you are a regular reader of The Community Edition (and, come on, why wouldn’t you be?!), you may have seen contributions from Midtown Radio lately. This month our focus was on I, the Mountain and their recent experiences at the Mariposa Festival in July, where they fulfilled the first line of their song ‘Rosa’, “Hey, hey, Rosa, I’m going to Mariposa this year with or without you…” Check out I, the Mountain’s latest single, ‘Jillian’ which is filmed in Downtown Kitchener.
