We had a great time hosting the Future of Local Media public discussion on November 19th at the SDG Idea Factory. Building on the Waterloo Region Community Foundation's community conversation sessions (which themselves identified gaps in the local information ecosystem), we heard from independent media practitioners, concerned stakeholders, and other community members, to map current assets and enhance our understanding of the challenges specific to Waterloo Region. Topics included: declining audiences, disjointed delivery models, trust and credibility, and economic sustainability. Keep your eyes out for the full report in 2025!
